Filming for BBC Hidden Treasures of the National Trust
Some of the projects I had the opportunity to work on during 2023 were filmed for the second BBC series Hidden Treasures of the National Trust, now available on BBC iPlayer.
Initially filming commenced during my preparation of the huge portrait of Marchesa Maria Serra Pallavicino by Sir Peter Paul Rubens ready for Exhibition loan. The project expanded during the necessary repair of the hanging rail over the summer, to include around 40 paintings from the Saloon at Kingston Lacey. My team of paintings conservators from The Brick House completed the necessary preventative conservation under extreme time pressure whilst filming was taking place, it was a busy hive of activity!

Another exciting project commenced following the National Trust’s re-acquisition of a beautiful painting by Angelica Kauffman. Preliminary conservation was identified upon my condition check of the paintings return to Stourhead in August. I carried out the emergency first-aid practical treatment in situ ensure the paint was stable enough for public display from Autumn 2023.
