Abigail Bainbridge ACR
About Me
Abigail is a book & paper conservator and owner of Bainbridge Conservation. She is Associate Tutor of book conservation at West Dean College and teaches advanced & intermediate bookbinding at Morley College. She has taught in many studios, higher & further education institutions in the US and UK including Richmond Art School, the London Centre for Book Arts, Women’s Studio Workshop, London College of Printing and Camberwell College of Arts. Prior to coming to the UK she worked as a conservator at Columbia University and Paper Dragon Books (NYC). She has an MA (distinction) in Conservation Studies from West Dean, looking at selective discolouration of 17th century paper, and current research is on 18th century French binding. Abigail is an accredited member of the Institute of Conservation, as well as an accreditation mentor and assessor. She has sat on the committee of its Book & Paper Group since 2014, first as Treasurer and currently serving as Chair.
