Siobhan Stevenson ACR
About Me
Siobhan Stevenson ACR, has more than 30 years’ experience as heritage professional.
Formerly, Head of Collections Care at National Museums Northern Ireland and Chair of the Institute of Conservation, she has a diverse background in care of collections, museum and private conservation practice, cultural policy, business planning and strategic development.
Siobhan originally graduated from Cardiff University in Archaeological Conservation. She later lectured in conservation at Cardiff and developed and led the first MSc in Collections Care in the UK. She returned to Northern Ireland to take up post as Culture and Arts Manager for Belfast City Council, where she authored and implemented Belfast’s first Culture and Arts Plan and subsequent Integrated Cultural Strategy.
Siobhan founded Legacy Conservation in 2019, as a consultancy offering advice and project management for collection care, conservation and museum policy and practice.

Work History
Head of Collections Care at National Museums Northern Ireland (NMNI) which includes responsibility for the extensive collections and exhibit buildings of Ulster Museum, Ulster Folk and Transport Museums and Ulster American Folk Park. Siobhan manged a multi-disciplinary team including Conservation, Collections Care, Collections Storage and Object Handling and security and had overall responsibility for three off site stores.
Culture and Arts Manager for Belfast City Council with responsibility for arts and hertage development and funding in Belfast. Siobhan authored and implemented Belfast first Culture and Arts Plan and subsequent Integrated Cultural Strategy. She administered grant funding of more than £1M per year and ran successful programmes for public art, festival development, built heritage and the Celebrate Belfast Cultural Programme in 2006.
Tutor in Conservation and Care of Collections at Cardiff University. Siobhan developed and was course director for the MSc in Care of Collections and was lecturer and examiner on BSc Archaeological Conservation and BA and BSC in Archaeology. She supervised contact posts for Cadw (Welsh Historic Monuments) and secured funding for Analytical SEM and capital redevelopment of the facilities.
