Applications to the Conservation Register

Please note that it is a requirement that the lead member of a practice seeking to join the Conservation Register be an accredited (or fellow or full or specialist) member of one of the professional bodies recognised by the Conservation Register Advisory Board (see Criteria).

The Conservation Register recognises accredited status from several different awarding bodies. Please access the links below for further information on how a conservator-restorer can apply for appropriate professional membership and become eligible for the Conservation Register:

Professional Accreditation of Conservator-Restorers (PACR)

British Antique Furniture Restorer's Association (BAFRA)

British Association of Paintings Conservator-Restorers (BAPCR)

Institute for the Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works in Ireland (ICHAWI)

There is an annual fee for inclusion in the Conservation Register which applies in three bands, depending on the numbers of Conservation staff within a practice.The rates from 1st October 2019 are:

1 2 Conservators = 82.5 +VAT
3 - 6 Conservators = 165 +VAT
7 + Conservators = 330 +VAT

The Subscription year runs from 1st October to 30th September. New practices are not invoiced pro rata for the remainder of the subscription year. Once the application has been accepted for inclusion in the Conservation Register the full fee will be invoiced to cover administrative costs which is payable within 30 days.
